Social Media
A major conference like Synergy must have a presence online to succeed. Citrix has a Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Instagram accounts but does not have Periscope or Snapshat accounts.
Using traditional online platforms, Kirill posted a message few days before the conference.
The hashtag #CitrixSynergy quickly became a trending topic on Twitter during the first day.
Citrix promised to donate $1 to Heart of Florida United Way (up to $30,000) for each tweet that mentioned #CitrixSynergy. At the end of the conference, and with a huge social participation, Citrix decided to remove the cap and signed a $51,452 check!
We committed to give $30,000 but your combined social efforts blew away that goal! We’re thrilled to donate $51,452 to @hfuw! #citrixsynergy pic.twitter.com/ij9KWSGkix

Citrix Social Media staff was active during the conference, responding to many tweets addressed to @Citrix and creating social engagements by displaying the best #citrixsynergy tweets on the digital boards at the Social Hub in Synergy Park. They also displayed the most engaged people (I was fortunate to be on the leaderboard all week long!). A few Spotify playlists were also created by Citrix.
In the Social Hub part of Synergy Park, Citrix had a wall called #CitrixLife with pictures taken by Citrix employees. Pretty damn cool !

On the last day of Synergy 2017, Citrix partnered with the United Way to organize a SimplyServe session sponsored by Google, Intel and Nvidia.

During this session, 7th and 8th grade students from MeadowBrook Middle School in Orlando were asked to build Battle Bots (including Octoblu flow creation) and make them fight.

SimplyServe is truly a great program. Kids really had fun! Thanks Citrix!
Some Synergy 2017 sessions were streamed live on Internet and are now available on demand via Citrix or via Citrix TV channel on YouTube. Citrix also quickly published most of the Citrix Synergy 2017 resources (PPT).
Citrix Synergy 2017 official pictures are also available online on Flickr.
I found that the excitement decreased after the first day. My advice to Citrix is to create different social events each day to keep the social activity high all week long.
Overall, Citrix Synergy 2017 was great success online with more engagements than last year. I’d like to congratulate all Citrites who have worked on Social Media.
